Accreditation

AccreditationThe School was reaccredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and School (SACS) in June of 2011.

ELM was commended for:

The general atmosphere at the school, the high degree of parent support, and the dedication of the well-trained faculty encourage a learning community that is respectful, supportive, and motivated.

Through observation of the students upon their arrival to school, the expressed appreciation from students and parents, and the family-type ambience displayed by most students, it is evident that the students approach each day at school with enthusiasm.

These positive feelings throughout the school directly impact a high degree of a sense of community; this leads to a high level of motivation that supports improved student learning.

Taking into account the short time period several new students have been at the school and their prior educational experiences, a high level of English language acquisition is observed.

Conversations with students, classroom observations, student work, and teacher and parent appraisal indicate very acceptable progress toward development of English written and verbal communication skills.

Students who are enrolled in the school with limited English experience a successful transition and develop necessary cognitive academic language skills within the expected time. High expectations for the use of English are explicit, and creative approaches are implemented by staff to create a climate where students take risks and are not tentative about demonstrating their proficiency. Stakeholder satisfaction and pride in English language acquisition permeates the community.

English language instruction is one of the reasons that parents choose the institution for their children.

Teacher support, the English as a second Language (ESL) program, and student commitment results not only in adaptation to the school but also prepares students for English language post-secondary studies.
